Koford, R. 1976 1977 Journal white cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by mt), Nevada Co., Calif. 24 Dec. I spent 0650 - 1315, 1350 - 1700 in the 1st study area, setting 5 traps at 1145 (1 nowed 3), closing them at 1530. I saw part of a couple chases. I also found a ? in an area in which we did used to live. I saw 3 juveniles come out of an oak in the morning. It was windy, up to -15 mph., from early morning to -1000, then light. Sky <5% cloudy all day, temp. 34°F at 0745, 49°F at 1345, 43°F at 1710. 25 Dec. I spent 0655 - 1115, 1140 - 1700 in the 1st study area, setting 5 traps at 1205, closing them at 1340. I watched a nest in the morning, but I'm not sure how many squirrels live there. I watched in the evening, too. The sky was -50% cloudy in the morning, -95% in the afternoon, clearing in the late afternoon. Wind light. Temp. 40°F at 0650, 50°F at 1135, probably higher than that in the afternoon, 45°F at 1710. 26 Dec. I spent 0658 - 0915 in the 1st study area, picked up the traps and left. 12 Feb. I spent 1123 - 1730 in the 1st study area, seeing 1 Gray Squirrel, finding one mushroom. There was a slightly hazy sky. Temp. at 1400 was 59°F. 13 Feb. I spent 0700 - 0750, 0815 - 1240 in the 1st study area, then left. The temp. was 54°F at 0800, probably in the mid-60's when I left.
