Koford, R. 1976 Journal white cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd), Nuba Co., Calif. 25 Oct. I spent 0648-1431, 1450-1816 in the 1st study area. I didn't set the traps - it was pretty cold. I saw 2 chases involving juveniles, saw one squirrel run when another chirred nearby - I counted a family in the morning, noted it in the early afternoon, and in the evening. I saw 2 Gray Squirrels, two chipmunks, 1 Beeley Ground Squirrel. The sky was clear except for a few clouds in the E at sunrise. Wind light. Temp. 43°F at 0645, 54°F at 1445, 48°F at 1830. 26 Oct. I spent 0653-1145, 1250-1825 in the 1st study area. I set 15 traps at 0930-1005, closed them from 1635-1645, catching one squirrel. I saw a ♀ chase two juveniles, saw 2 Gray Squirrels, heard and saw Varied Thrushes. Sky clear, wind to -15 mph. Temp. 39°F at 0650, 53°F at 1245, 56°F at 1530, 49°F at 1845. 27 Oct. I spent 0700-1115 in the 1st study area, setting 9 traps from 0810-0820, picking them up at 1055-1100. I found a new family, saw 1 Gray Squirrel, counted chipmunk holes. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 42°F at 0700, 57°F at 1130 when I left. 6 Nov. I spent 0730-1050, 1135-1720 in the 1st study area. I set 10 traps in the area S of DS from 0830-0915, closed them ~1530. I caught 1 squirrel. I saw a couple chases, 3 Gray Squirrels, and a chipmunk. I doubt if it has rained here since my last visit, since it hasn't in the Bay Area. We have now gone off Daylight Savings Time.
