I went into Nevada City at midday for more dry ice and supplies. I heard 4 chirps, saw 2 Gray Squirrels. The sky was ~20% cloudy in the morning, clear in the afternoon. Wind was light. Temp. 57°F at 0700, 75°F at 1300, 61°F at 1930. 25 Sept. I spent 0628-1305, 1430-1920 in the 2nd study area. I opened the 15 traps at 0930-0850, closed them ~1730. I heard 8 chirps, saw 3 Gray Squirrels - one juvenile & a pair chased near a chickaree cache. It seems that an adult & an lectating juvenile have disappeared from the study area. There is an adult & in their area. I counted 3 juveniles in one family in the evening, but didn't see them come to the nest at midday. Sky clear, wind light.
