White cloud appeared, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd.), Nevada Co., Calif.
10 Sept. to rain lightly in the early afternoon, and I went into
Nevada City. It rained off and on all afternoon. Wind
was light. Temp 65°F at 0700, 75°F at 1300.
11 Sept. It rained quite a bit last night, making puddles in some
places in dirt roads, then lightly off and on all day.
It was overcast all day. I spent about an hour in
the 1st study area, heard several clis. I took no notes,
but counted none seen.
12 Sept. I spent 0710-1405, 1445-1940 in the 1st study area,
catching 3 clickerets, seeing 3 juvenile Gray Squirrels.
I set the 30 traps at 0800-0800 closed them
at 1700-1730. The sky was partly cloudy all day,
clearing by sunset. Wind light. Temp. 51°F at 0700,
63°F at 1440, 56°F at 2000. I saw an adult Robin.
13 Sept. I spent 0715-1225, 1325-1927 in the 1st study
area, catching 3 clickerets and 2 juvenile Berkeley
Ground Squirrel, saw 2 Gray Squirrels. I heard a ? cli.
Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 51°F at 0710, 69°F at 1320,
59°F at 2000. I saw 5 juveniles go into a root
hole in the evening, but the ♀ didn't join them by
the time I left.
14 Sept. I spent 0658-1340, 1515-1910 in the 1st study area, going into Nevada
City in the afternoon. The traps were opened ~0830, closed ~1800. I only
opened 26 of them. I caught 3 juvenile ground squirrels. I saw
a clickerets close a Gray Squirrel, saw another Gray Squirrel, heard
a couple probable ♀ clis. Sky overcast or partly cloudy all day. Wind light.
Temp. 56°F at 0850, 75°F at 1500, 61°F at 1930.
