White cloud campground 4300 ft. 11 mi E Nevada City (by rd.) Nevada Co, Calif.
2 Sept. I spent 0608 - 1113, 1200 - 1945 in the 2nd study area, opening the 71 traps from 0830 - 0900, closing them from 1800 - 1830. Wind [illegible], sky clear. Temp. 66°F at 0600,
85°F at 7200, 71° at 2000.
3 Sept. I spent 6622 - 1330, 1400 - 1545 in the 2nd study area, but didn't set the traps. I picked them up,
spent most of the day on the cone catalogue. Sky
clear, wind light. Temp. mid-60's to mid 80's.
8 Sept. I spent 0736 - 1320/5:10 - 1945 in the 1st study area, setting 70 traps from 0800 - 1000, closing them from 1800 - 1837, catching a 2 juvenile Beechey Ground
one adult &, 1
Squirrels, and a Steller Jay. There were many
cones on the ground in places, some in holes or
half buried. The Douglas Firs are opening. Sky clear,
wind light. Temp. mid 60's to mid 80's, 69°F at 2015.
9 Sept. I spent 0653 - 1300, 1425 - 1925 in the 1st study area
with Bonnie Bown (she was here yesterday too). I opened the
30 traps at 0815 - 0950, closed them from 1800 - 1840,
catching 3 juvenile Beechey Ground Squirrels. Wind light.
sky clear except for a few small isolated clouds
in the afternoon ( < 1% cover), temp. 65°F at 0650,
85°F at 1300, 73°F at 2000.
10 Sept. I spent 0712 - 1325 in the 1st study area. I opened the 30
traps from 0900 - 0940, closed them at 1300 - 1325. I saw
a squirrel which may have been an adult & older. I also
found some half-grown juveniles. It was overcast in the
morning, but some blue showed through at times. It started
