Koford P 1976 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (hyrd.) Route to White 28 Aug. spent a few minutes in the 1st study area trying to find new juveniles at ~1345. I opened the 30 traps from 0820-0815, closed them too. 1815-1845 I saw 3 Gray Squirrels, one involved in an almost encounter with a chickaree. I probably found a nest of an adult ♂, and a nest of a ♀ juvenile. I saw a chase in the same area I saw one yesterday. I also saw a juvenile chase an adult ♀. Sky clear, wind light. Temp. 64°F at 0620, low 80's in the afternoon, 67°F at 2030. 29 Aug. I spent 0615-1310, 1405-1945 in the 2nd study area. The traps were opened at 0805-0840, closed them from 1805- 1830. I found one new nest and one which I've seen used before. I saw one territorial interaction, but it didn't develop into a chase. I heard a greeting while in the morning, saw 2 squirrels got drinks, found a couple caches, saw 4 Gray Squirrels, and saw a juvenile Swainson's Hawk. I got pretty good range information on a new ♂ juvenile. The sky was clear, wind light. Temp. was in the low 60's in the morning, 85°F at 1400, 67°F at 2015. 30 Aug. I spent 0605-0755, 0850-1310, 1350-1954 in the 2nd study area, hearing 62 chips. The traps were opened from 0850- 0950, closed at 1805-1830. I saw a ♀ leave her nest - I've watched the previous 2 mornings without getting floor early enough. Some squirrels are burying cones. I spent quite a while compiling a list of cone production, so
