Koford, R. 1976 Journal Farniergum daughter: White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd.), Nevada Co., CA 28 July evening, and followed her from the nest in the morning. She's evidently lactating, but I'm not sure if she's a [illegible] year juvenile or adult. It rained lightly during the night, but the ground wasn't even completely covered with moisture in the morning. Cloud cover was ~10% at 0530, then increased to ~80%, clearing to ~20% by 0830, then increasing to ~99% for most of the morning, then 100%. Light rain fell, often on, from 1300 to 1400. By 1600 cloud cover was ~40%, then 100%. Late and light rain fell between 1835 and 1950. At 2000 the cloud cover was ~60%. It rained a little at 2200. Wind was light, temp. 74°F at 0515, 73°F at 1330 during the rain, 79°F at 1600, 72°F at 2050. 29 July I set 27 traps N of the highway, N of the campground, trying to catch a pregnant ♀ to take back to Berkeley, but only caught 1 Berkeley Ground Squirrel. I had planned to test territorial response of squirrels in the campground, but no squirrels called—maybe because EG, normally living in the campground, spent much of the day in the study area. I took some notes on squirrel activity which seemed significant, in the study area, but not the usual detailed notes. The sky was 30-50% cloudy in the morning, clearing by the early afternoon, with light. Temp. 68°F at 0645, 85°F at 1600, 71°F at 2020.
