Koford, R. 1976 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft., 11 mi. N Nevada City (by road), Nevada Co., Calif. 23 July I spent 0735 - 1300, 1520 - 1815 in the 2nd study area, hearing 27 chirps. I opened the traps from 0925 to 1015, closed them ~1800. I saw 2 or juveniles engaging in mock copulation, and found a probable nest tree of a lactating ?. It rained very lightly, off and on, from - 0400 to - 0700, then the cloud cover varied from 20 - 100% during the day, mostly ~80%, but clear by sunset. Wind to ~15 mph. I went into Nevada city in the afternoon for dry ice and supplies. Temp. 67°F at 0730, about 80°F in the afternoon 24 July I spent 0607 - 1305, 1600 - 1915 in the 2nd study area, hearing 28 chirps. I opened the traps from 0723 - 0815, closed them 1755 - 1820. I saw a Cooper's Hawk fly close to a juvenile and saw 1 Gray Squirrel. Sky clear except for a few clouds (< 1% cover) which went by in the early afternoon. Wind to ~15 mph. Temp. 63°F at 0600, 85°F at 1600, 72°F at 2040. 25 July I spent 0633 - 1305, 1555 - 2030 in the 2nd study area, hearing 58 chirps. The 30 traps were opened at 0800- 0905, closed at 1810 - 1835. Evidently I left one trap open last night, because there was a woodrat in one of the traps in the morning. I found 2 juvenile nests in the evening, and watched a ? for a long time at midday. I saw 3 Gray Squirrels and one chipmunk. Sky clear, wind light; Temp. 65°F at 0600, 87°F 1545, 74°F at 2100.
