Koford, Rolf R. 1974 Journal 17 June Parkwood Meadow, 6 mi. east of Shaver Lake, Fresno Co., Calif. ~ 6000 ft. mushrooms and other fungi scattered about. - In addition to the permanent buildings, there are: 2 trailers, 1 tent, 1-7 vehicles, and several people. The F+G people are doing a deer study here and things sometimes get pretty active. - The weather: little or no cloud cover, wind light (3-5 mph.), temp. about 55°F in the morning rising to about 70°F in the early afternoon - We (CBK and I) had arrived on the night of the 16th, so were here in the morning. He took off to look for puma tracks and I stayed around the camp all day looking for clicktrees. I walked around the area and would watch squirrels when I saw them, often following them or their calls for long periods of time. When they lost me I'd walk around 'till I found some more. Serious observation started at 0700 and ended at around 1800. Much of the afternoon (1200- 1600) was spent trying to get good photographs so observations during this time are not very thorough.
