June couple days, and there were reports of snow at the higher elevations. There were a few clouds, wind was light, ftp. 64°F at 1500.
June I spent 0610-1305, 1515-2015 in the 1st study area, hearing 85 chirs. The 36 traps were opened from 0830-1100, closed ~1800, catching 1 Beechey Ground Squirrel. The sky was hazy most of the day, wind up to ~20mph. Temp. reached the mid 60's (°F).
June I spent 0618-1315, 1540-2032 in the 1st study area, hearing 54 chirs. I opened the 36 traps ~0800, closed them ~1800, catching 2 Beechey Ground Squirrels, 1♀ Junco, and one moriband shrew (Sorcy obscureus, I think) which I prepared a study skin from. The sky was clear, wind up to ~25-30 mph in the early morning, then light in the afternoon. Temp. reached the low 70's (°F)
I saw one Gray Squirrel.
June I spent 0640-1340, 1540-2020 in the 1st study area, hearing 87 chirs. I opened the 36 traps from 0800-0910, closed them ~1800, catching one Chickaree - an all-winter pelage ♀ which had apparently already weared its joynungs - and a ♀ Junco. I saw 2 Gray Squirrels - one chased a juvenile. The sky was hazy and partly cloudy all day, wind to ~15 mph, temp. 80° at 1530, 66° at 2030.
June I spent 0600-1405, 1545-2045 in the 1st study area, hearing 13) chir, and seeing 2 long closer (actually, one I mostly heard). I set the 36 traps ~0730, closed
