Koford, R. 1975 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300ft., 11 mi. E Nevada City (by rd), Nevada Co., Calif. 8 September I spent 0700 - 0840 in the first study area, hearing 1 churring call, then went into Nevada City for dry ice and supplies, then spent 1000-1345, 1645-1935 in the second study area, hearing 15 churring calls and about 1 min. of almost solid churring, mostly from 1 squirrel. The cloud cover was ~10%. all morning, increasing in the afternoon and complete by 1730. Wind 0 - 15 mph, Temp. 66°F at 0830, 82°F at 1345, 66°F at 1935. At about 1430 I saw a Gray Squirrel run N near my truck, which was parked a couple hundred meters NW of the Hwy 20 marker 30.00. 9 September I spent 0915-1245, 1650-1935 in the second study area, hearing 5 churring calls. At 1600 a Gray Squirrel approached the truck, parked where it was yesterday, from the SW. When it saw me it stopped, then ran NW rapidly. At 1653 I saw a Gray Squirrel ~50 m. 55W at S1- it went 55E on the ground. The morning was overcast, and a light rain fell between ~0530 - about 0900. It remained overcast until 0940, then gradually cleared until it was completely clear shortly after noon. There were a few light clouds - less than 10% - in the late afternoon. Wind light. Temp. 64°F at 0930, 74°F at 1245 and 1650, 62°F at 82° 1930. 10 September I spent 0850-0935 in the second study area to close the traps and 1515-1910 in the first second study area, where I heard 10 churring calls and saw 1 squirrel. I went into Nevada City in the early morning for dry ice. There was intermittent light rain from 0845 - 1400. It was overcast until 1610, then clearing to ~5% clouds at dusk. Wind Lght. Temp. 59°F at 0930, 63°F at 1530, 58°F at 1930.
