I moved one trap from near post 8 to the vicinity of post 36. Sky clear in morning, about 50% cloud cover at midday, completely overcast in the late afternoon, clearing after sunset. Wind was mostly light, but around 20 mph at times. Temp. at 0630 was 35°F, at 1530 was 44°, and at 1900 was 35°F. I heard a couple alarm calls but no churring calls. Birds seen: 2 Cassin Finches 30+ Oregon Juncos 1 Downy Woodpecker 3 Brown Creepers 4 Red-breasted Nuthatches 4 Audubon Warblers 10 American Robins 3 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers. 5 White-headed Woodpeckers 23 April It was snowing lightly in the morning, stopping about 0845. The temp. was 32° and the trees were dripping for the rest of the morning. It had snowed about 3 cm. but another storm was supposed to be arriving soon, so I picked up the traps and prepared to leave. There were squirrel tracks in the campground and in the western part of the campground. At 1130 when I left the sky was overcast and the temp. was 37°F with little or no wind. As I went west on Hwy 20 I last saw snow at about 3700 ft. The study area was still more than 95% covered with snow, with some bare patches about 15 m. across.
