Koford, R. 1975 Journal White Cloud campground, 4300 ft ±, 11 mi. E. Nevada City, Nevada Co., Calif. 19 April I spent 0830 to 2000 in the campground and study area, with only about 10 min. for lunch. I caught 3 squirrels, heard a couple churring calls. Of 14 traps, I moved 9 into the study area after catching the squirrels I wanted. A skunk had turned over 5 of the traps south of the slanted oak. Wind was light. Temp. at 0830 was 37°F; at 1400 was 44°F; at 2000 was 40°F. It was overcast until about 0830, then mostly clear, though never completely, for the rest of the day. 20 April I spent 0730 to 0830, 0900 to 1440, 1530 to 2015 in the campground and study area. No churring calls were heard. Two squirrels were caught— one that had been marked last year; the other had been marked a few days ago. All traps were left where they were except 2 which were in squirrel C's territory. These were moved about 50 m. Nw after she was caught. Wind was mostly light, though the treetops moved at times, as if the wind was about 20 mph. The sky was clear in the morning, with a light haze, but it clouded up around noon and most of the afternoon had about 50% cloud cover. Temp. at 0800 - 42°F; at 1400 - 48°F; at 2000 - 40°F. 21 April I spent 0830 to 0900, 0930 to 1200, 1330 to 1840, 1900 to 2000 in the campground and study area, trapping 1 squirrel and hearing 1 churring call. I went into Nevada City in the early afternoon. The sky was hazy until about 1500, when it became clear. Wind was light in the morning, gusting to over 20 mph, at treetop level in the afternoon. Temp. 41°F at 0830, 50°F at 1400, 40° at 2030. New birds: Audabon Warbler, Hermit Warbler.
