White Cloud campground, 11 mi. E Nevada City, Nevada Co., Calif. 4300 ft
16 April are still covered with 3-4 ft. of snow, but there are rare places which are bare ground. There were many Chickaree tracks in all parts of the study area and campground. One squirrel was seen eating cones and there were a few holes in the snow. The morning was clear at times - about 50% cloud cover most of the time. It became completely overcast in the early afternoon and snowed about 1 cm. from 1500 to 1730. Wind was light. Temp. 31°F to 36°F.

I set out 7 more traps in the campground area, making 14 in all. 1 squirrel was caught and marked. A couple churring calls were heard. I saw snowshoe hare, gray squirrel, and coyote tracks in addition to about 8 sets of chickaree tracks - not as many as the 16th. Wind was light, cloud cover 10-50%. Temp. at 0700 - 27°F; at 1200 - 43°F; at 1500 - 40°F; at 1930 - 34°F. Birds seen (no sp. accounts):
