Koford, R. 1975 Journal White Cloud campground, 11 mi. E Nevada City, Nevada Co., Calif. 4300 ft. 26 March drove up to the vicinity of Steephollow Creek. I only saw 1 set of tracks in the open forest on the flat ridge north of the creek in an hour of walking around the area. I couldn't even walk around on the north-facing slope with dense White Fir cover to the south of the creek, because the crust wasn't there. Wes and Wendell said they'd seen one only 100 m. west of the campground entrance, and I saw one about 200 m. east of the entrance on my way to Steephollow Cr. I returned to White Cloud campground and looked for squirrels in the study area, then went on a 1-hour track-finding trip starting near the heliport and going zig-zag to the west, then north along the west end of the study area and across the power line swath. I saw 12 sets of tracks that looked like chipmunks and 2 more that seemed to be Gray Squirrel tracks, being wider apart and having the front paw marks further behind the hind feet. I took a dinner break, then
