C. Koford Journal 18 March 1962 Dacca, E. Pakistan I visited the monkey farm. Very run down & small compared to Bateman and Vito. Near EPRTC (bus line) Stage No. 6, Holy Cross College. M. said he had fire there about a month ago, & nearly all burned. The monkeys were in 7' x 7' cages, & these (500?) were released, & later about 200 returned. Whole farm area about 150' by 200', surrounded by other dwellings & other buildings. Present cages are wooden sea-shipping crates, as some shipped by sea still. Air shipment cages similar to Bateman's, but without the drawer-type feeding trays. He said he had shipped 64 pregnant females (2 shipments) last year, & had no adverse report. Food: rolled rice, fruit, grain & similar grains, sweet potatoes. No know about "loel" fruit. At present he has about 100 monkeys, all adults. When sick, released, except good animals being readied for shipment given terramycin. SPCA in London apparently inspects monkeys & medicates if necessary. Collecting area all 3-400 miles from here. Some require boat transportation part of distance, but mostly rail transport. Bothan H. (India) told me without airlines now & total men volunteering lot questioning, that M. was well known and from a good family. (In charge govt. rdsearch) Dr. ?. He was about 250lbs. & said little, but legily sat. We had the usual for peanuts & fried tidbits, & tea. After we left I was told he was in charge of scientific & industrial research here, had written many scientific papers, & been chair of various committees & delegations. Both seemed to think there was no great difficulty in bringing in scientific equipment, & Warren Warren had brought microscope and similar items. In contrast to India, British, German, & other foreign cars here. Mujib said that about 1956 representatives drug companies came to Pak. & inquired about obtain-
