C. Koford 40 Journal 18 March 1962 Dacca, Pakistan. He offered to introduce me to other monkey dealers in Dacca. He said Mr. Bowlin, commerce officer at U.S. Embassy, knew about his company. Not long ago M. in New York a week, & he expects to go again in April. He said he could supply certain sex-age from certain locality, & had done this for some people (Dr. Warren?). He also sells to Henry Trefflich, 228 Fulton St., New York 7. The other Dacca dealers, who have no farm as yet, are: Mr Hafizallah, Mahi Corp., 125 in Ah sanullah Rd. (Ah sanmanzu), Dacca 1. Teleph. 3030. To Davis (Mujibullah) he sends about 500/mo. At maximum he has available $8000 per month. He also confided that the jet freight rate for 500 kg. + over (300 monkeys) was much less than the BOAC rate from India. In part due to 20% surcharge in India for animal shipments! He knew Rei & Patterson companies. He said that Rei had tried to discredit Pakistan monkeys by personal talks. At another time it was published that Pakistan monkeys had malaria (they had ridden with monkeys from Kuala Lumpur), but Warren & other had found little more later. M. taken blood slides monthly for Dr. Warren. He said he has also tried to infect monkeys with malaria from mosquitoes. He said he has hybridized Macacus rhesus with stump-tail without great difficulty (kept or away from 9 for a time), and the hybrid had stump-tail face but rhesus tail. He claimed little to have had no difficulties in jet shipments, & could reach San Francisco in 20 hours, N.Y. in 24 hours. He had also had bad experiences with Gleeds, including one where D. had told him to ship too few cages, & another where D. claimed a large portion dead and checkups with PAA and SPCA gave different reports.
