C.Ko ford 17 Journal 7000' 17 August 1969 Porcelia Pass, Poto, Lomasbarque, Peru. made ?). Fog rolled in for about 3 hours. Cleared somewhat, later, but then windy - it blew our tent down (we were not in it). 18 August 1969. Still windy. Roiled up traps near summit. My 28 held 10 oryzomyine (along creek bed), + 3 Phyllotie andrewi (rock wall on slope in grass & their brush). B.+L, using live traps got 0. Took up another trap 500' lower eluv, on Pacific side. My 21 snaps held 4 Phyllotie andrewi, 3 Alodon yor Mermonosa, and a large oryzomyine rat (alive). M.+L got 1 or 2 each in live traps. Entirely the brushier plant jumble on slope is a hot spot for animals! I shot several legua this day of 2 species! We then set up camp on a point about halfway between summit + 2 km. W., where good view down the Olmos (valley nearby). About 4 p.m. we set out traps. M.+L trapped same slope, 2 km. W. of summit, going higher than before, putting out about 65 snap traps. Reys set small Acroa near camp. On half mile, I saw that one snap trap had a catch already; I picked up the trap lying in the string, fortunately, for it held a hairy spider w. body over 3" long! No rain this afternoon, tho low clouds about 4-5 p.m. Oversat evening. We put out a lot net after dark on a dry ridge near food. Heard lots but saw and caught none. Cleared after dark. 19 August 1969. My 34 snap traps held 3 Alodon boliviensis and 9 Phyllotie andrewi. Windy morning. M.L. caught several of same spp. We drove back toward Olmos and stopped to camp near Molino (El Molino), when big Frecin tree shoulded rocks and stream flowed clear (many 4" fish in it). Stopped but did not camp here in 1967, 21 km. E. + 7 Km. N. of Olmos, 2700'. Mainly grey stouts brown-backed living birds in Frecin. I shot a or Vermillion Flycatcher
