C. Koford 13 Journal 2000' 16 August /69 Rio Olmos, Dpto. Lambayeque, Peru. mile of shallow stream, I saw about 50 toads, largest about 8" long. Three pairs in amplexus, the smaller green are on top, larger brown are below. Calling toads sat fairly upright, throat sacks bulging; when alarmed, crucked low but could be touched without fleeing. // heard no anura copimulgidae / ML set up a net on stream; about 1 hr. after dark she had a Mystic's Antilena (?) an hour later another of second - no more by moving. 17 August 1969. Somewhat buggy night, but mostly clear slightly damp. My trap held 1 Phyllotus, M+L got nothing. I shot Furnarius and a few other birds; many sparix present. / About 11:30 we deprated for upper reaches of Olmos. No red-flowered tree as in 1967. Passed about 3 small roadside restaurants. We set up that a summit, on W. side, dry road. (Sign said 2144 m.) = 7010' I think J. Clebsy & spiderer; then cleared a bit. We set more traps. I put 15 along stream through grassland, where brush, rocks, ferns, tree roots. Also 13 near a rock wall (same bushes) in grass, 50 yds. from bushes. // saw a copimulgidae w. white wing, long white bar tip tail, at summit / Law over grassland 2 caracaras, turkey vulture. In bushes, mostly Psotrubis cayensis and a black Turdu w. red bill. Flocks up to 30 of Mouritz - like dove (no control white-tipped retine). Many tadpoles & small frogs (15mm?) in stream pools near house. All much grazed, as usual. Hills generally brushy - much of it thorny. But perhaps 1 sq. mile of grassland just E. of pass (largely new
