feild lizards, + many lizard holes. All at trop., M. & R. set live only.
I set 4 traps near copal bushes + margwist tree. About 9 p.m. M.
a.j. and I checked our lines; she had 1 live basilamyz, + I had 3, last ones
live by tail. One taken in leafless brush fence. 2 in Cuppennia
avienifolia, when large brush separated by 20' or more from other.
High fog in evening; a few dribbles rain in night. Also about 9 p.m.
we took 3 Phylloleptylus on ground, largest at base marguista, smaller
(w/ banded tail) on intertwining sandy (+ pebble) ground, using Benvenia lamp?
16 August 1969. A few stars visible at dawn. Some fair breeze from E.
4 shy 6/10 some cumulus clouds or fog. My traps held 3 more Basilamyz
(2o 6 in #4 & 6 trop.). M. took 2 mox, + Ray took 1. We put up spasmore,
collected lizards (at least 3 kinds, including the Cnemidophorus-like arm-
shaking one, + large blue- footed). Like Chilcayo market, a man had
a varanid-like orange & black lizard about 2' long, which he called
un equiva; he wanted to sell it for 40 soles. Local animal?]. We
departed to E.- vegetation gradually more Mes- like or farmed cereal.
Then north thru Juyayos, by Cerr de la Vieja + Motluya, to Olmos
