10 Journal Perc. 11 August 1969. Llaco, 12 km. E. Paracoto , Opto. Ancash, irrigation ditch, near shrubs and rocks. Not took a finch, a [illegible] (released), hummingbird, yellow finch, & dove ! Pericad #7 P. anduin, t 11'x6; tunga flea in bone tail. Other bone flea cysts in pinnea (some good). / I liked to look of irrigat. ditch, a 25 yd. square stone tank about 500' above our camp to NE. Green thereabout, but saw no unusual animal, No frogs or tad poles in the "estanque." A local told me the area here known as Llaco (or byfow). / I found old tin arrow net, with eggshells, inside a 10 yd. diameter slabsford coral, against rock wall. / Flush'd at 0739 a tin araw; another stayed on ground near my feet for 10 sec. before going (ju?.) Warm until noon; pleasant afternoon. 40° F. last night. Clear calm quiet evening. Ray shot a big bullfinch. I saw Sparrow Hawk during day. Ray saw a group of Parrots. We are still trying to get a live P. roquista - have about 85 live traps out on 3 slopes where have taken in snap traps. 12 August 1969. 40° minv. 30 live traps held 7 P. anduin. 56 live traps held 2 of same, 1 each in large & small Sherman traps. Myrual caught 1 P. roquista (we hope) in big Sherman trap in same area. Few scattered dark 9340' i.e. roving. / Departed 1440 and drove down road 2.8 mi. to bridge (7600') over clear stream, where many eucalyptus trees. Then down past large hacienda headquarters (massive church, anacardis tree yard) to camp 2.6 mi. below bridge, where an old broken bridge on S side, 6700' i. elev. (= 6 mi. ENE of Paracoto, 6500'). # We set total of about 40 traps in rocks (dusty, scrubby) of dry canyon bottom and end green (grass, brush) bottom. Berin mossy feet, but with good + clear. Had lots, but took none in 1:30 net. Clear night.
