C. Koford 37 36 Journal Chihuahua 10 July 1969 Rio Santa Clara, 6200', Sierra del Nido, in dry grass by small boulders. Blue side had C. Keylardi, Acorn Woodpecker, Curve-billed Thrasher (1), M. Dove. /Orange skato & Yellowthroat, which had 3 empty follicles (3-4 mm), large ventricles, & further down around ventral aiterium (brood patch starting). /Coke shot a Blue Grosbeak, tester 9x7 mm. Yesterday a Vermillion Flycatcher, t, 4 am. /I saw Ferruginous (some?) Hawk fly over bottom. Blue Grosbeaks fairly common. /Rain to about 8 am, then dry light overnight. We departed for Carpenter head- quarter, where we saw a long-billed Curlew and a Marbled Godwit walking together on short grass. /About 2 miles to E., on road, picked up a large Phygrosoma douglasii in plowin' grass. Near Carpenter's 5) we saw 1 Juvin- saw Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Raven. We drove on east to head of Canyon Santa Clara (6900', if 51 strc 6 500'). Scrub Jay above pass, in syracuse orchin. Saw a Badger run into hole alongside road. /Descended road. Water running in stream from very head, & road covered with water many areas. Saw no trogons; figtree now dried, fruit flowering. at Pecosina, saw Harris Finch, Harris Sparrow, Brown-headed Caruleis (on ground m. cam). /About 3 min E. Peccinina, a Rob- roller. In big cottonwood area near adobe shocks, 1 Luna Dove. An Acorn Woodpecker picked head from root-side tree, when saw about June 2 t, at Campagna camp, no Bird or Nestotic Tanager or W.W. Lewis nests previously observed, but a Robin still in nest in ash near water. Stream running muddy water, so "springs" muddied. No running water up Noria Canyon. Noria canyons. /In evening, Road & car-3 jurs. Searched Oaks in trees near camp, perked 5-10' up; caught one in a butterfly net - released. /Heard Poor-willer calling. Many glowing, Ostrered butter flying in early night. Heard &
