July of last year, no mushrooms now, nor the red "snow flowers."
We hiked to upper finc Mesteño (above O. del Yagua fall) and ascended NE flank about 1/2 mile to a spring. Found no deer trails, a note, en route.
Near spring, slopes mainly covered with Quercus rugosa (brown pubescent beneath), about 5' high. / Continued up to gozboulie meit. Young now mostly in deciduous leaf, with tufts down showing through. As I crossed a rocks slab w. no bush cover, adult doe at me to about 20'. Deer & light rain commenced. We ascended to ruin, at head of twin radio trail, to camp (1500' above cabin; about 9100' elev.). New camp saw little guy, Junco Pygmy Nuthatch (abundant), Bewick's Warbler (?), House Wren, Carver (?) Flycatcher, Lewis (?) Hummingbird, Parrots -- to 25 in flocks, about sunset. Saw 5 deer in Quercus on slope.
Set 5 snap traps near logs, shrubs, grass (caught 4 mice; Peromyscus - saved 5 or 7 separately)
# (200-108-22-24) skull for identification. A # (181-95) had tester 7x5.
