19 June 1969.
Forested, but closed before 14:45, so left note for José Domínguez. Then visited Dr. Bill to Gonzaley Muzzing (No. 3, Calle Pacheco), talked, & got shotgun that I had left there. Shopped, & returned N. Very hot in Chihuahua; about 100°F. Arrived about 18:30. Saw Blue Grosbeak, wld. ♂, near small shrub in dry open grassland.
Cir - about 9/10 overcast, cactusus - but clearing. Evening - saw 3 Nighthawks about 500' up, circling. Heard Poorwills calling evening. I & D tried to catch bats with hand nets over cattle trough, seeing flashlights, & caught 5 of 5 species, including Mystes & Plecostus (saved in bag formlin). A mystus thysanoder had 2 spiders on it (but won't keep others). Another Mystus had 1 endypo. / Campana Camp
20 June 1969. Cool at night; clear. Saw red Lorinet drink at trough; G.P. said saw 2 red ones alongside each other. No swallow nest cliff here. Saw 15+ Lark Sparrows, in tree, usually only 1 - nesting? Occas. 1 or 2 Turkey Vultures soared over cliffs. Occas. 1 White-winged Dove flew thru tree in bottom, but more Mourning Doves. Band-tailed Pigeon, gpa to 5, roosted in tree mid-morning. Saw about 10 Lark Sparrows, 10 Brown Towhees (often in trees, 10+ ups). / Vegetation in flatbottom, about 300 yds. wide, largely Deser about 4' ave. height. Occasional juniper bush. The side-folgiage bush common. Brown Jayr about 8'/ Heard repeated loud "cow!" from area of dry waterfall" in cliff, where scattered shrubs; Coppery-tailed Trogon? Saw over gran slope to N., one Black Vulture (white areas beneath wingtips). / Brown-headed Canbidos - flock of about 10, flying + perched ground + coral fence. / Departed about 10:00 hrs. for Ranch El Misterio, planning frequent stops for observation.
About ½ mile up road, Cliff Swallows building nests under just about 70' up in 100+' red rock cliff. Some nests a mere basal crescent, others complete. About 15 nests. No water apparent in streamlets in site. Direction for ¼ mile +. / About 6 White-throated Swifts zipped about near same cliffs,
