lots (other cover up Pajaito Canyon). Camped lower Pajaito.
23 November 1968. No frost; clay colm. Drawn to road to C. de la Madre,
about 1.5 mi. from Pajaito entrance. Then 3.3 mi. thru Rincon del Alamo
to locked gate, and 1/2 mile farther up C. de la Madre (road much washed last
year). Then walked up road. Fleached coyey 10+ Martenquas guild in can-yon
upper dry streambed. At "pila," see 1/2" there. Walked up canyon to W. for
back
about 1 mile; saw spots water near; no new bear signs. Then back
to pila, 1/2 mile 6-4 lead N. to can. Again fleached 10+ guild, about some
spot. Then out locked gate, and drove 7.6 mi to higher of Rincon del
Socorro Rivas
Alamo. Talked w. Capaldi; then on side road about 2 mile to a ranch.

are mine when - meeting Conceicao walked. (His family, with several kids,
living in stone hut with roof made of old garden's cane & thatch.) He still
thought there were some "oso plateador," though last he saw was
in 1961 - in upper C. Negiera. He thought this the same one that
had killed Zea cattle. He also mentioned seeing one in C. Los
Varas, just before fence (edge of Ej. Los Varas). He said that about
15 days ago he saw a bear in upper Monto, and that he had seen
my (distinctive) tracks in streambed there (near upper sidehill). He
also said many "cornos" on ranch of David Prieto. He said that in 1957,
with AS Leopold, they camped in Arroyo del Alamo. I arranged for boy
to show me road to Terrenotas tomorrow. Drive about a mile N. and
Terrenotas
camped near edge wash. Saw 2 coyote 10+ Collipepla. Mosquitoes
latina here, & much like Aristida. Probably good Dipodamys
I caught 2 Dipodomys; put up one.
area. Set 15 traps. Cool clear calm evening; moon fairly new.
/12pm. 10+ Mexican jays, still, mostly w. kill yellow towed loose. /22 Nov.
collected longspur, and saw flock 30+ over "pinto," when they dipped low and some
mostly landed in dry weeds in water. Some bird flocks to 200+, possibly
