Rancho El Nido, Chihuahua, Mexico
Trichase californica (deira), Leptochloa dulcis (deira), Andropogon bali-
siaris (common natives) (+ 2 individ Andropogona); Setaria macrostachia (sp?)
comm.; called "temporaneo." Chief soil - P. amenagi.
Local shrubs; Acacia
constricta ("goteña"), Prosopae glandulosa (true) and P. juliflora (bunch).
He said Prof. Alberto Pérez, Botany Dept., Escuela de Medicina, Univ. of
Chihuahua, had only collected Chihuahuan plants, including Rancho Exp. area.
The old adobe and church seen to be nearly over extension of Tenaza family; for
dblg. inojedó. Tenazas covered millions of hectares. One remains
in Alfonso ("Pombo") of Pseudo bacciliferus. / Hadley interested in studying
wildlife and rodents; I gave him talk on rodent control, and range
rodents in relation to range management. Rather judgy fellow and did
not seem too energetic. He and another boy tried to identify my collect.

Former had worked 4 years on Tierrateras and said they had seen lots
beavers there; one canyon named C. de los Oros [just W. of C. de la Madre,
I think]. In presa near houses saw: small deer, 2 hilldeer,
3 skunkde (goatier yellow legs?). In farther area, saw Pygulusia,
thresher, brown thrasher. / Visited 50' deep horizontal old mangrove
