5 November 1968.
Rancho El Mosteño, S de Mdy Chihuahua,
at ranch entrance and about 3 miles W to gate, where camped. Borgia said some people
party
had been deer hunting lately; a second party of Americans now at Colorado; but none
had reported seeing a deer. (Celestino Barona of El del Llano is father of Borgia's wife.)
6 November 1968. Cool clear calm morning. Drove down road collecting grasses. Very dry aspect. Visited Rancho Pargator headquarters then 50 storey and drove on to
Rancho El Alamo in C. del Alamo to camp. This is about 7¼ miles off of main road.

Camped 1/4 mile close ranch house. Food used out ½ mile farther on, & under ½ mile beyond that. Canyon similar to Mosteño below Colorado. Stream clear and running well.
Walked about 2 miles up C. Escobedo, which runs N, starting near ranch house; spotty water,
no deer sign.
7 November 1968. Clear frosty morning. Departed camp 0800 and walked up stream.
About 3 mi., barbed wire fence & tributary to N. 4 mi., dry branch goes E, main canyon to N. Boulders bottom, cliff side, peave & coke on flood plain, & rather shady bottom.
No cattle may, but horse tracks . 0940, 5.2 mi. (elevation from camp, 7100', a main fork, one branch going N., one E., both w. water. I took N. Fork.
