None of leading few was exceptionally large & so probably no gobbles present. Perhaps had come from water in Ojito. No calls. They catin- med upslope. Saw Ephelbians, canyon way, 3/4 m-something on way back to Llano. Arrived 1140. Drove 5 mi. down road to (Yr.-both did nearly) about 25 yrs. ? Reptors. Urbano Yea won there, & we talked with him. They had had ranch about 18 yrs. Had given 2 logging permits. Had to divide ranch because of "operatives"; it had to give 250 ac. & trees, but now expected clean title soon. He had been to college in U.S. (at Los Ganes ?) and studied some wildlife conservation. They have been unable to borrow money on the ranch be- cause lacked final title, but could borrow a cattle. /Poachers a problem as is insufficient men to patrol, but try to protect game. They allow a Menominee friend to shoot a turkey or two occasionally; he was then recently (turkey season opens Jan. 1, I think). He thought the area of Lobano + to N. the best for game in S. del Nido. /When [illegible] person put out (6'?), Luis (see- [actually brother of Lucio] grizzly down ent foreman at Paspitos) had seen the bear, but was afraid to shoot it. Several of more shot then or later. /Yea showed us 5 skins of pine and 3 of wolf from the ranch, all in hides mounted on skine. He thought them very valuable.
