while (sugar) pines, Douglas firs, & old searnill roads, 12 45. Low

12"; green ovet & aldoner. Cliffs, a surfous canyon view.
[prob. L8000'] altim.
Bottom canyon 950'; I descended to S. (1900). Two spotted
altim.
touchers in shot duckets bottom. At 1350 a 3 m. wide
goal in creek, 8200' and at 1405 reached main canyon at old
mill site. Then down canyon to camps (2:55); saw seil
spate w. jailer coyote droppings en route. I Baeza said

a & wolf trapped (?) in next canyon E. not long ago; he
gave a skin + head to man in Chihuahua, where it is mounted.
Also that 3 years ago food crops good of acorn + peiron,
& many lean trocks. Much precip. this year, so
effects good food crops for livestock & wildlife. said
wolves taken by traps & poison, occasionally. He has never
seen a coconesth or racoon. Contrary to Davison, he said
devonite rarely hunt. Also that Jea had 2 serious abdominal
operations + had not been to ranch for months. I up canyon
from camps, 20 more turkey calls in evening (no gobble).
