6 August 1967 Peru:
Talora -> Mancora, Dpta Piura,
then camped on road north. Set no traps. Nr. Mancora
7 August 1967. We drove N to Mancora. No vegetation growth or
apparent litter on P. Honda & there. Fishing town; 300+ trucks
+ 30+ smalls. Petrol, shrimp tin flying near shore. Usual
rich + dead pelicans on beach. We were told boats went out about
7 a.m. or earlier, returned about 3 p.m. Just N. of Mancora came up
P. Banneries about 10.00 a.m. Good stands mosquito + small birds
including parrots. Furnarius seemed especially common, wailing
in dust under mesquites. Big teid lizards. In sand where mes-
guints especially tall, perhaps 60; Nuey shot a large woodpecker. Later

we camped there about 1 hr. beyond pump station. Heard owls
in evening and I shot 2 (no eyeshine seen). Also heard Burhinus,
