Koford 5 Journal 213 in Dpto. Ancash 7 July 1967 To Km. 203, N of Paramonga, Peru with many crops, cattle, casuarinas, aecoloptus. We drove to edge rocky beds near Lampa at km 203. Saw loren whole, cornmuta, pelicans, + I picked up a toothless human shell (deformed occiput). They caught two Tropidurus lizards in roundel boulder break sides, + Hamilton a snake. We drove out through Tillandsia hills and camped at base of one near km 213. Larger broad & smaller leafed Tillandsia only apparent plants. Saw fox, lizard, + rare mouse traps. I set 40 snap traps on hill slope near Tillandsia on sandy ground, + a few near red rocks nearby. I caught 0 tho 9\" Tillandsia one more took passed next to trap. They set traps too & caught one Mice.] Camped there at 2061er. Hamilton shot a Spriylle. 8 July 1967. Picked up traps. Ray caught a few geckos. Clutch solar repairs, then difficulty in driving out in fine sandy ground. Bird very rare in Tillandsia area, tho scorpions + crebete common. Departed 1230 when still foggy (drizzly early a.m.) Drove N thru sand, rocky Tillandsia hills, with occasional wiers ocean. Sand dunes on km 225. A tunnel in rock. Stopped at km 238 and inspected sandy beach where many Larus modestus feeding on sand at edge wave wash. Several skeleton pelicans in 200 meters, and some cornmut + Lula bodies too. Drove on and at km 254 saw sandar soaring over barren hills; later another single one. N Hurmy area (km 277) another flat green valley w. many Cerogyps. Corn growing. Many Rhytistobalus. Many sand dunes on km 350. Another flat green valley in area of Llama, with corn prominent. Barren rock hills stuck up thru greenery. Stopped here. Then took road toward Huaroas and drove thru scattered rancher w. corn, avocado, papayas, yuca, occasionally 213 200+ (r.4)rocber)
