Koford Journal 31 January 1964 Barrington Is, Galapagos Lion small, but no apparent cysts. No stomach content, worms found, nor ectoparasites. (Examined after lay overnight). Testes 90 mm, shrivelled, of which 17 were conde epid., x 45 diam. Slightly milky fluid studied cute eyes. Pomer content great - full + bulging, & wet. About 3?o gram matter, including whole leaves + some brick stones. Also cactus parts. Mostly tan color. have selected items from stomach. No green apparent. Molars black dorsal half; P4 long upper + worn lower resemble gus. Malocclusion apparently common; 2 of the counts (phil.) today had similar defect./Laruelle + 3 cats arrived. 1 February 1964. Windy night. 2/10 clouds morning. Clamied goat carcass. Visited islet at north bay; about 100 yds. wide by 300 long, with many Opuntia there. No signs goats. Main difference from mainland site were presence abundant succulent plants (24%), unbruised brush about 5' tall but still with only few leaves O, and many cactus pods + fallen fruits under every opuntia tree (pubesca 10x mainland no). "Mangrute" x Cryptococcus spp. unbruised, to ground + 5' high. No false or grasses, but lack possibly due to salt spray there./Remains 3 dead sea lions on islet, one sticking up with old hide, one very old. See hair & bones on seaward side & islet tip. Much white on rocks, like old goose, scattered dry sea lion near./In evening climbed to top ridge 5- of camp (broken), arriving 1645, to look for goats in area about 1 mi. N-S, 1?/2 mi. E-W. Saw 2 obs.; lamb #?, blk. #?, 1 mi. W. of camp. Then saw 1 blk., 1 br. 2 blk. at 207; 1 blk., 1 br. at #, on ridge N. of camp, ?/4 mile W. next - Prob same as ones saw yesterday eve. These gradually walked E., to lower ground near bay, arriving there 5:55. At that time, blk. & br. obs.
