2 eaten? NW, bed camp canyon, down 9,+ sep. of (?). Goat trails stand out in canyon (wide) bottom, being light on black lava (prob. alb.) surfon. Trails up canyon. 0940, t (3br.,1bl.) w est of camp canyon; largest group seen on rocky hill. Heard bleate chubbs! at high level, laurel trees have one foliage. | 1030,I was opposite right peak about 1 mi. W.of camp; 1 black goat in peaks. ΒΌ mile to W,
2 1050,2 black, feeding. Actually I saw more skeletons than goats.
1130,jumped 3 lying in brush near ridge top, at 50 yds. (10? 299 ?);

boot or all black. 1155, returning E. in next canyon S.of camp, I
1 heard bleats + finally black kid ran by at 50yds., slowly. Home about 8"; cured; only bird I have seen (the saw 3 kid skeletons). also
3 saw 3 black adults on S. side of canyon, feeding; 2 another, alone, on.
1 island summit. Saw 22 altogether, only 1 x kid,+ that probably several months old - poor reprod.? or young shot for food? | Collected:
Doves under rock or flat red dust ground. Saw several dove which allowed approach to about 8'| Many flies at camp near brook - sea lion's goat of recent attract. Last eve we saw tom
Orygomyx at camp,+ mouse ate it uncovered food. Said to be annoying least times. Some groszigys, Myiarchus, x Dryodocia seen. But Peromimus most conspicuous bird. Overcast night + much less sea lion calling than previous night.| When floodlight turned on in evening in brook area, hundreds of flies came - prob-ably from sea lion! On set 20+ traps + took 2 Orygomyx before 8 p.m.
31 January 1964. 7 more Orygomyx in traps. | I departed 0740; 410 clouds. Walked to E, up rocky hill, then to
