Koford Journal - Galapagos 22-23 January 1964 Academy Bay, Indefatigable I/s, Galapagos. in station area. Apparent ad or sit atop high rocks, or aftertoid with barn (Nerida Dowling studying there). 24 January 1964. Left 0730 on trip with John Henderson to La Fe to seek nest of tortoise. Boatman David Belfour; tortoise guide Gilberto Moncayo. Saw sea turtle & several mantas of large size, at edge slabs, about 1 mile offshore as we headed W. in 14' outboard. At 0835, stopped at La Tata, at W. end of a long cliff (bananas). Several sea lions lolled on white (no small pups, but no half-sized). Breakish open pool 100 yds. looks from shore, & a few goats there. Some brown with black milled & down frizzle; other black. Males large. Vegetation much luster by goats near water hole; many trails, broken brush, but much green brush still. In high ground, droppings goats & burros common, & once got seen, but not within 50 yds - away. Mostly concentrated near pool. We looked for tortoise nests for 1/2 hrs, but found none, this found droppings (old). Moncayo said most
