m. Koford 1951 17 Vicugna Nov. 15 Huaylasco, 52 mi. ENE Arequipa, 15000' former position. 1 young defecated and urinated (?) and another young defecated. 2:15 1 ad walked 100 ft. from group and lay on side in sand, then changed to prone position. Another adult pawed ground, then lay on side. 2 others down briefly, one prone, one on side. 2:20 Two which lay down at 2:15 now up and with group. 3 of 5 ran about half way (50 yd.) toward S and they moved a little away. 2:45 1 young approached an adult as if trying to nurse with tail up. Adult kicked it away several times. Others moved toward them until 6 (4 ad, 2y) stood very close together with heads raised & ears back. Stood thus several minutes, none grazing, then moved apart. Each young followed very close to an adult and when they had moved out of tight group both young lay down beside adults they had been following. One adult nosed young lying beside it and Then adult also lay down (prone). young raised its tail. Two remaining adults made passes at each other with necks, still with ears back, then moved apart.
