M. Koford 1951 16 Vicugna Nov. 15- Huaclasco, 52 mi. ENE Oreguipa, 15000', (urinated quickly & with visible stream like others, but didn't squat much). 12:55- / young nursed < 2 min. I moved away, young followed & tried to nurse again, & kicked at it. I & prone for 3 mi. 1:05 about 30 appeared at head of canyon 200 yd. away. I went up to chase them. 1 adult defecated, 1 ad. rolled. 1:15- I ran down canyon and joined group. Another ran down canyon and chased the group, then stopped, then again (run when tried to break away) ran into midst of group and divided it. This time one ran out and away up canyon. One which had been chasing ran after it. Several & & & young rolled. 4 lay down - 3 pron, 1 on side. Longest down about 5 minutes. I presume the first which joined them was an imposter and second was their own & chasing not them but the intruder. 1:40 I of 5 ran from 100 yd. away to chase ?? of 8. It ran right among them and chased them 200 ft. before their & appeared running down canyon. Then 2 of 5 retreated, 2& stood 50 ft. apart for a few minutes, & of 5 returned to his group and ?? of 8 returned to their
