july 20 8 mi. 5SW timbani, 15000', Opts Puno
1:35 all moving down hill - I didn't see start of movement. Stopped at bottom and grazed (below other bunch). Several times SP spit at others when they became closely bunched. Still grazing at 2:15 when I left. None small enough to be this year's young. When I came down I scared both bunches up the hill again.
july 28 I watched B group from 6 to 7 am. At 6:00 one vicuna went over ridge at SW endy of low part. B'group was 300 yd. NE near ridge crest. At 6:04 2 were prone & 3 standing. at 6:08 4 were down & at 6:15 5 were down, then 1 stood. All were chewing. at 6:23 they were still the same, and the sun just hit them. At 6:28, still th same. One stretched its neck flat on ground for 4 minutes. at 6:35 two more stood up. The two prone each grazed a little in this position. at 6:36 another stood and at 6:44 the last stood.
At 6:47 one lay down; at 6:52 another; at 6:54 another; at 6:55 another. Two of those prone were chewing, and 2 not. at 7:00 when I left they were still th same.
