September 20, 1951. Aricoma, 15000; Debs. Peno
rocks, + Penicis (Panopeya sp? present). Clear in
morning, overcast in afternoon with a few snow-
flakes: Sheep, alpacas, & llama near house during
midday. Max. temp. +13°C. Set traps near rock w/b m. Rock Mts.
September 21, 1951. Min. temp. -6°C. Clear & calm 7 a.m. Two Phyllotis
pictus in traps near house; 2 P. pictura + A. jelskii in 20+ traps
in SE Canyon. Stock in SE Canyon today, + 20+ llama in S. Lost
are. 3/10 cumulus & fair days up canyon by 11 a.m., up to 8/10
cumulus in mid afternoon. Max. temp. +15°C. Set
30+ traps on slopes near Lee Mdw. via cliffs, rocks
& especially tall grass. Desert on peaks after 5:30 p.m.
September 22, 1951. Min. temp. -5½°C. Clear & calm 7 a.m.
Traps (20) in SE Canyon held 2 P. pictura, 1 Chinchillula? Other
traps set held O. Set 15 additional traps. Panopeya ? in
trap in afternoon (M.K. 1061). About 4/10 cloudy in early
afternoon - clearest recent day. Max. temp. 18°C, least
found sun has been reaching thermometer (moved it).
September 23, 1951. Last Min. temp. -4½°C. Traps
in SE Canyon held 1 P. pictura, 1 A. jelskii, others more.
about 55 traps set in all. With family hiked to W.
Lee Mdw. + back to house in morning. Clear at 6 a.m.
but all streets overcast by early afternoon + Sunset
4:55 p.m. Nearly clear by dark. Light snowfall for
one hour in early afternoon. Max. temp. 12½°C. (shale).
September 24, 1951. Min. temp. -3°C. 10 traps set on
SE side S. Hill by Mary yesterday held 3 C. damnicus (20707, ?).
