Julica, Peru
September 17, 1951. Night frosty & clear. Drove to
Julicia. Got car repair & stopped. Stayed at Clinica
Americana with Duffie. Wrote letters.
September 18, 1951. With Duffie visited Siculstani (?)
a large lake about 45 minutes drive from Julicia (to-

towers of stone about 25' high) there. Saw at least 2

(yellow at bend wing), & small birds among rushes.
Other fringillids seen but not identified. Open grazed
country with Polylepis shrubs on slopes. Large
island in larger lake - said to have many wincoders.
Lake 2 miles across, island 1/4 mile (estimated) & flat
topped (good for trapping?). Returned to Julicia.
Mailed skeletons 1219 + 1227 (Attagis & Nothoprocta o.) to
MVZ; also found & tape worms from Dusicyon, &
some Nothroprocta groads & abd. skin samples. Clear
