C. Koford 106 Journal August 20, 1951 To Calacala, nr. Putina, 13000', Dto. Pino. Poto 15450' (15200 at Home; pressure low today). Road had been worked on & much improved between Poto & Putina. About 10 acres of trees up to 15' high about 10 mile before Putina & several other areas small trees (reddish bark, Bolylopis?). At Calacala told no weasels seen there recently, but Dr. Salinier said recently saw 2 near Chupa (near Arapa) and a dog had killed one. Saw a poor-wild, red eye shine, on road nr. Lomas. August 21, 1951 From Calacala, nr. Putina, 13000', Dto. Pino. at 7a.m. about 1" snow on ground and snowing lightly & steadily. Snowed all day, about 4" by sunset. Shot a flycatcher in a Genetushie (floors 20') in yard & put there up. Flushd prowill near house. August 22, 1951 Snow ceased on morning, about 10' deep. Took some pictures. Shot & put up 3 birds from near buildings: August 23, 1951. Clear. Hunted turmoine in partly snow-covered ground & killed one. On rockridge 1/4 mile SW of house saw 3 fopse about noon, & a few wicacars. Flushd poor will from nest on bare ground on rocky slope. Two fuzzy young in nest & eggshells (white, pale pink) nearby. Clear all day but fair breeze. On many slopes snow still not melted. Shot a gray headed orange-yellow breasted large finch in yard. It was fighting hard light of can at times. Mrs. Parks said see here. A sparrows hawk shot in yard had tertias O, other smaller. August 24, 1951. Clear. 6:30-8a.m. hunted on grassy hillside 1/2 mile W. of house & killed two turmoines, or 4 ?
