M. Koford 1951 Vicugna 2. May 25- 8 mi. 55W Limbani, 15000', Depto. Puno where I left the other band of 5 this morning. A little up the canyon from this group was the group of 10. Near them was another which joined the group when they started to move. When I returned to watch them from the car a little later, one was again separate from the 10. It moved toward the group and one of them started to chase it. The others followed and they all disappeared behind some rocks. When I got into a position to see them again there were only 10 in the group. Near the group of 5 a little down the canyon was a sixth one. The 5 seemed to pay no attention. The 10 grazed, including the two young. One young chased the other and they rubbed their necks together. Three adults in succession rolled on the ground. The group moved near some water and grazed. One stayed a little apart from the others. One adult and one young lay down. A dog walked by on the road. All 10 stood at attention and one - I couldn't tell which - cried.
