c. Koford Journal June 10, 1951 Aricoma, 15000', P. to King for I. landed again together, 50 yds. away. Saw bunch 21 vicuna 1/2 mile west house. Still overcast at noon. Hail in afternoon at mines. Visited rock outcrop 1/2 mile west of house & may set 6 7 or 8 traps there, shimmers & schrylers. At my trap line, took up all close traps, took up lowest 10 of far line (grass near pond), & set 10 additional near cliffs in grass - about 35 in all now, all on rock-grass slope above Ice Falls. Fog came up canyon & limited vision shortly after sunset. Clear at night. June 11, 1951. Temps. -4° and +6°C. at 7:30 a.m.; clear but clouds low to east. Examined my traps: otch 1 P. pictus, 1 A. jelskii, 1 Nestor's, 3 chinchilla. Many had 1 chinchilla & 1 jelskii in 8 traps. I shot a flycatcher, saw a seagull. Yesterday in storm saw flock 100+ yellowish small finches (spinus?) on ground & rocks. Clouded up nearly completely by noon. Spent most of day getting up specimens. Watched vicunas 3/4 hrs. in evening. June 12, 1951. Temps. min. -2°C, max. +7½ °C. Clear but clouds towed low to E. My 28 traps above Ice Falls (took up those at Ice Falls yesterday & placed among rocks & grass at higher level) held one juvenile vicuna & 1 chinchilla &. Returned to house 10 a.m. Saw one swallow over grum road & rock of hillside. Several times saw flocks of 15+ red Thinorques snipe; all fly simultaneously with commercial squealing noise. Put up specimens. Watched vicunas 4 to 5 p.m. Fog coming up canyon 5 p.m. Up to 1/2 cloudy during day. June 13, 1951. My 28 traps held 91 grms. chm. of chinchilla and 36 grms. o> Nestor's. latter taken in tunnel in their tall dry grass, 5' below foot small cliff on steep slope (not saved). We packed up & at 9:30 a.m. departed in jeep for Cruces. Reach-
