At 11:00 am I walked up the canyon where (south of road)
we saw the band of 10 yesterday and
over several ridges to the south, but
did not see the band of 10 (with 2 young).
I disturbed one band of 4 adults
which moved down toward camp,
(one adult) east
one band of 5 adults which moved
north toward the road, one band of
3 adults which moved up onto the (southwest)
steep rocky slope at the head of
the canyon, and saw a band of
5 adults at the head of the canyon,
and one lone adult near the stone

house above the upper lake basin on
the way back to camp. I saw the
group of 4 three different times and
it may not have been the same group
each time. At 3:00 pm we drove up
the road. In the canyon north of the
road where we saw the band of 6 (1 young)
yesterday we saw the band of 6
(Carl had seen them leaving this
canyon when he walked up this morning.)
In the canyon I walked up this morning
was a band of 5 at the head near
where I saw the 5 this morning and
a band of 5 on the north side near
