June 1, 1951 To Aricoma, Dpto. Puno, Peru.
Completed shopping, greased & gassed car, & departed Julicoa 1 p.m. Drove via Tropicata & Azullo to Chucro & camp, arriving 8:30 p.m. Return Puno & Azullo this saw young of large tinamous cross road in dry grass country. Saw 7 turkey vultures near carcass of dog 10 miles from Julicoa, 5 flamingoes in pad 20 miles from Julicoa. Lake before Azullo had yellow-billed ducks with young (4+), cinnamon? teal, green-winged teal, the brant duck with large white patch upper wing, & black craned duck with white upper neck & redish head. Dark before reaching Aricoma. Saw 2 mice on road in lights. Captured one (1075) at Aricoma summit, by hand. Found that there had been a light snowstorm May 30 & 31 in afternoon with snow on ground until noon following day. At noon May 31, temp. max. +9, min. -6, since 8 a.m. May 30. June 1, 9 a.m., reading +6, -10.

June 2, 1951. Clear calm night. At 8 a.m. temp. -2 C., min. -12, max. +3. Put up specimens, unpacked groceries, etc.
In afternoon inspected vicinity of house to see if could get trail there. Near house saw 3 black & some yellow sparrows, & several yellow Phrygilus finches. Group of 13 huellater on ground 5 of the St. Paul's Park, & 2 about 200 yds. from them. About 5 of the Bram ducks or ponds (Pteronura 1/3 g secunda? in white dorsally); shot one, 2 with largest crown 2 mm. drain, many smaller, foremost. Two sizes gray flycatchers (?) present on rocks & ground. Set 34 snap traps, 26 near two huts & adjacent corals, near rock walls &
