PerĂ.
To H.cda. Colocala, Mr. Putino, Depta. Puno
Bought supplies (milk 3/100 per case at C.A.) and had car greas-
ed; then started for H.cda. Colacala about 11 a.m. Road crossed
brook slow flowing clear tributaries to Lake T. Near Toraca
saw 2 turkey vultures. Many mud houses, + cluster of
small houses with pyramidal roofs of adobe bricks -
perhaps some sort of drying houses. Saw 100+ glossy ibis
in flat marshy area near Toraca. 32.5 mile from C.A. in
(colboth before Huancane)
Julica, turns north on Putino road. Road of large rocks
which made travel rough. Fairly heavy cultivation. Road
ascended little. After 12 miles on this road turned off to
west on road to Colacala. This was green grassed rolling
country. After 12.3 miles on this road arrived at the Heda.
A stone wall 4 to 6 feet high enclosed much of the
slanted moments
pasture. 100+ trees up to 25' 25' high + 12" drain. were near
the hacienda headquarters, and there were more than a
dozen Eucalyptus up to 50 feet high. Headquarters
a short distance up grassy foothills. Hilltop above.
