C. Koford 49 Journal April 13, 1951 Peru Hacienda Paimani, nr. Ilave, Depto. Puno, field 4 alectes amoenus and 1 A. bolivianus (discarded). Took up the 6 lines near camp. Partly overcast during day but no rain. (Yesterday, about 5 miles upriver from Neda. P., noted a ledge 15+ feet above river with much whitewash on it; 2 herons (might ?-staged) perched on this ledge. Many trout visible in river at every point inspected.) April 14, 1951 Rain for a few hours in early morning; light snow on hills 500' above camp. Nearly 16 traps held 1 Akodon bolivianus and 1 Phyllotis pictus. The string of 30 traps held 1 A. bolivianus, 1 Oryzomys ?, 3 Phyllotis darwini ? Cut up mice, discarding 1 A. b. and 1 P. d. 2-1/2 miles (from entrance Hda. Puno) We drew up road about twelve & I set 12 snap traps + 2 still traps on ridge of a cliff near road. Then visited another cliff on opposite side of river from ranch houses. There saw up to 5 flycatchers at once perch- ed on the rock outcroppings. About 4 p.m. fished in river near crossing. Caught 10 trout trout, 9 to 14" long, in 30 minutes. Returned to trailer. Talked with Jorge for a while - he said that wee persons in area where Pearson camped but we had to be there at 5 or 6 am. Nemidae were among the rocks, he said. He mentioned a place where he had seen the chocolate & white note (A. jelskii). I shot a brown mark- hamer near crossing. Saw 3 luteo-like boubos there, white below with black wingtips. A love for Franklin gull perched on a bar in the river. Fairly clear & cool in evening. Smelled skunk at place where set one still trap today. Saw 5 of the green paraguates perched on a rock cliff near the road; voice screechy + pruss parrot-like. April 15, 1951. Nearly 16 traps held 1 minin. (967-Akodon?). The 30 a. amoenus (discarded) held 1 A. amoenus, 1 A. jelskii, 2 A. bolivianus (1 discarded),
