Snaptraps held 3 Akodon (1 discarded), adult + 2 young. Walked
up a rocky canyon to W. of buildings & shot a small dove thus. Saw
no mammals nor signs. Whitewashed paint on cliffs where hawks? had
perched. Saw one swimmim - like hawk (yesterday saw 2 marsh
hawks at next locale to north). Many finjellito among rocks. But
stichia capensis on rock walls near houses. Sunny morning, nearly
clear, & warm in sunshine. Heavy frost last night. Certainly nights
very damp. Many clear rindlets running through pastures toward
river (wet meadows). Llamas + sheep & a few cattle in pasture
here. Put up Akodon & bird traps occasional sparrow hawk. About 11
a.m. we left in jeep & drove 13 miles up road toward Mazorrey. Road
good & slight climb, stopped on broad plain with very short grass where
hundreds of llamas were grazing. There shot 3 Coqui & saw many
more. I also shot a flicker & a sandpiper. About 5 miles up from
Pairumani passed that area of great outcroppings of turgolante-

caves in rocks about 20 miles up from Pairumani came into area
of low brush with cedar-like leaves. Returned to Hda. P. Set
