Valley 1/2 mile wide. Cotton, bananas, orange orchards. Up into
dry vegetationless rocky hills again and cross another green
cultivate(d) valley (about 2 miles wide) a few miles further on.
Road went down valley several miles - many oranges. Then into
rocky barren wastes again: at miles 476, another green flat
cultivate(d) valley floor (1 1/2 miles wide). Much cotton in flower.
Across valley and up into rocky hills again (5 p.m.). Miles 481
