C. Koford 23 Journal March 13, 1951 Nro Lima, Peru. and other articles. All very noisy & colorful. Returned to Chorrillos & our trailer. (Bought 7 gallons kerosene for S4.90, less than 35c). Regular gasoline 5/1.0 per gallon and best grade 1.50 per gal (10c). Motor oil mostly import- and ted from U.S. but sells at U.S. prices (5/6/qt.), also- sunshines & other clouds all day. Looked more shopping in afternoon. Camped at about same spot. At Barranco market a few (Petrochilodon) swallows flew about inside but no one paid attention to them - common sight, I suppose. March 14/51. To the Prefectura at 9 a.m. They found my papers & fingerprinted me - all 10 fingers plus hand print. My front & profile picture of slightly different size & not taken on same day so unacceptable. Went to Callao and met my tramite, Ador Colon. He had had my gear transferred to the resguardo so that it could be inspected. Finally got inspectors to look at it. The inspection was cursory & my 3 guns would not have been found had I not first told them they were in the boxes. Left guns but took my 4 boxes and drove to trailer. Back to Lima to get photos. Colon & buy special items. For S125 got a "Favorit" Swedish scale which has 2 pans, one for weights up to 400 grams & others up to 10 kgs. Works by moving a heavy weight on a lever. Got ideal type hygrometer on Calle Miro Quezada. Overcast most of the day as usual. March 15/51. Spent day at trailer unpacking gear & storing it, putting spotlight back on to jeep, running lights on trailer, etc. A few miles toward Miraflores from our camp men
