M. Koford 1952 Tinamotis pentlandi March 29 Huaylarco, 15,300' 10:20 on bird seen walking from this area down toward nest. Llamas and sheep have now appeared near nest. One walked 1 ft. from it. The bird coming downhill met llamas coming up from nest. Bird turned and walked uphill again. At 11:00 llamas had gotten 150 yd. away from nest but still no sign of bird returning. At 11:10 bird appeared near nest. 1 ft. from nest it picked a piece of pycnophyllum, dropped it near nest, picked it up again and dropped it on nest, entered nest facing upslope (left), turned to face right and settled down. Preened a little, picked feather from right side and put it down on left side. After 5 minutes turned 90° to face out from brush (toward me). Seemed to rollel egg under it with feet, also poked bill down under several times. Spent some time working at edge of nest with bill and sometimes reaching out to ground around, but I couldn't see just what it did. At 11:30 it turned again to face right, again followed by treading (egg- rolling?) motion. It pulled a feather
